Why We Chose a Project Boat

Ep 9 How much was our bluewater project Boat? - https://youtu.be/m_XmGYk7a28

It's been about a month since we made the big decision to buy a boat. We've been documenting our journey in various videos, but we thought it was time to sit down and talk about why we chose this boat and why we decided to take on a project.

First things first, there's no right or wrong way to go about buying a boat. Everyone has different preferences and tolerances for projects, and that's okay. As we talked to friends and fellow boat shoppers, we realized just how diverse people's perspectives can be.

Our budget posed a bit of a challenge. We quickly learned that boats within our price range often needed a lot of work, and their owners weren't always upfront about it. What was advertised as "ready to sail" often turned out to be in need of significant repairs and upgrades.

Despite the discouragement, we knew what we were looking for and what we were willing to do. Todd's background as a contractor meant we weren't afraid of a project. We've built our own home from scratch and have always been up for an adventure.

When we came across this boat, we knew it was the one. Despite needing a lot of work, we felt a connection to it. It had the layout we wanted for our family, and we believed it had the potential to be something special.

After some negotiations, we finally settled on a price. It was more than we initially planned to spend, but we felt good about the decision. The layout, the quality of the boat, and that gut feeling that it was meant to be ours all played a part in our decision.

But our journey doesn't end with buying the boat. We see this as an opportunity to not only fulfill our dream of sailing but also to teach our children valuable life lessons. With ten kids in tow, this isn't just about sailing off into the sunset – it's about embarking on a transformative journey as a family.

We're not experts, and we're not pretending to be. We're learning as we go, and we're not afraid to ask for help or make mistakes along the way. This isn't a DIY channel, but we'll do our best to share our experiences and insights with you.

So as we continue on this adventure, we invite you to join us. Be kind, offer advice, and share your thoughts. Together, let's navigate the highs and lows of boat ownership and discover what lies beyond the horizon.
