A Day at the Boat: Tackling Repairs and Racing the Weather

Ep 37 Toe Rail Repairs - https://youtu.be/0yHzC-Z68Qc

Hey there, folks! Today was another day at the boat, and boy, was it a busy one. Todd had his hands full tackling repairs, and we had some curious minds wondering what exactly went down. So, here's the scoop:

Our boat weathered a hurricane, but unfortunately, part of the tow rail didn't make it out unscathed. This area took a hit when another boat collided with ours, leaving us with a broken tow rail in several pieces. Our task for the day? To fix it up and make it seaworthy once more.

Katie was on glue duty, meticulously removing the vinyl and glue residue from the damaged area. It wasn't the most glamorous task, but it had to be done. And let me tell you, that glue was stubborn—like trying to peel off a particularly clingy Band-Aid.

Meanwhile, Todd and the crew were hard at work, trying to untangle the chaos of tools and tackle scattered across the deck. It was a sight to behold, but hey, a messy workspace is the sign of a busy day, right?

As Todd delved into the repair work, we made a surprising discovery—the stanchions are not as sturdy as we'd hoped. Those screws? Turns out they weren't exactly installed to withstand a storm or, you know, a clumsy stumble. Cue the challenge of reinforcing the stanchions to ensure they could handle whatever the sea threw our way.

But amidst the chaos and challenges, there were moments of levity. Like when Gabe and John tried to decipher Todd's cryptic tool requests, or when Katie shared a joke that had us all chuckling.

And let's not forget the cold. Oh, the cold. With temperatures hovering around the 60s and a brisk wind to boot, the epoxy took its sweet time to cure. But hey, we're nothing if not patient sailors, willing to wait it out for a job well done.

As the day drew to a close, and the repairs neared completion, we packed up our tools and called it a day. But not before reminding you to stay tuned for Todd's Technical Tuesdays, where he'll share snippets of his handiwork in action.

So, if you're enjoying our boat adventures, be sure to like, subscribe, and hit that notification bell. We'll be back every Sunday with new updates and maybe even a date night thrown in for good measure.

Until next time, fair winds and smooth sailing, my friends.
