Embarking on a New Adventure: Our Journey to Sailboat Living

This is episode #1 from our adventure. https://youtu.be/yFJL9lKVZV0

Hey everyone! We're excited to share with you the beginnings of our latest adventure, one that's been brewing in our minds for a while now. It all starts in our bedroom, where countless conversations spark ideas and dreams. Sometimes, those ideas seem far-fetched at first, but with a bit of persistence, they evolve into something worth exploring.

For the past four years, our family has called a 31-foot travel trailer home. Yes, you heard that right, seven kids and us in 280 square feet! But it's worked for us because it's allowed us to live debt-free, owning our own rigs without the burden of mortgages or payments. However, as our family dynamic changes and our wanderlust grows, we've decided it's time for a new chapter.

Enter the idea of sailboat living. Now, before you envision luxury yachts and exotic destinations, let me clarify – we're not looking to break the bank. We've seen others dive into boat ownership with hefty price tags, but that's not our style. We're all about doing things differently, finding ways to make our dreams a reality without drowning in debt.

So, armed with determination and a frugal mindset, we began researching. We stumbled upon a book that opened our eyes to the possibility of buying a boat without breaking the bank. It was a game-changer, showing us that with some creativity and strategic planning, anything is possible.

If you’re interested in checking it out, it’s by Fatty Goodlander, and called Buy, Outfit, Sail: How To Inexpensively and Safely Buy, Outfit, and Sail a Small Vessel Around the World.

But here's the kicker – before we even set foot on a sailboat, we had zero experience. Sure, I've been on powerboats and even did a fishing charter in Alaska, but sailing? That was completely foreign to us. Yet, that didn't deter us. In fact, it only fueled our curiosity further.

Our first encounter with a sailboat was eye-opening. We met a gentleman who was in the process of rebuilding his boat, and despite his warnings that it might be too small for our family, he offered to take us sailing. It was a surreal experience, feeling the wind catch the sails and the boat tipping sideways as we navigated the bay. And you know what? We loved every minute of it.

That outing solidified our desire to pursue sailboat living, despite our lack of experience. We're eager to learn, to embrace the challenges, and to share every step of the journey with you. So, if you're curious to see where this crazy adventure takes us, hit that subscribe button and join us for the ride!

Stay tuned for more updates as we dive headfirst into the world of sailboat living. Fair winds and following seas, friends!
