Plumbing Woes and Bilge Adventures: A Day in the Boatyard

Ep 24 If it’s not broken do you fix it? - https://youtu.be/m1IfiFTCovc

Ahoy, fellow sailors and boat enthusiasts!

Today's blog post takes us back to the boatyard, where we find ourselves knee-deep in plumbing conundrums and bilge adventures. With sleeves rolled up and determination in our hearts, we dive into the tasks at hand.

First on the agenda: smoothing out the handles on the through-holes. It seems the previous owner had taken to them with a hacksaw, leaving them sharp and dangerous. With a bit of elbow grease and a touch of finesse, we smooth them out, ensuring they won't slice through our hands in the future.

As we work, a familiar voice chimes in from the background—Dad, always ready to lend a hand and offer sage advice. With his guidance, we press on, determined to tackle the next challenge: plumbing.

Ah, plumbing—the bane of every boat owner's existence. Quest pipes, PEX pipes, drain lines—all in need of attention and repair. The decision looms large: do we replace the old with the new, or make do with what we have?

It's a dilemma we grapple with as we assess the state of our vessel. Leaks are few and far between, but the uncertainty lingers. Do we wait for disaster to strike, or take preemptive action?

With fingers crossed and determination in our hearts, we set to work. Drain lines are replaced, pipes are inspected, and decisions are made. It's a laborious process, but one that brings us closer to our goal of setting sail once more.

But our work doesn't end there. With the plumbing sorted (for now, at least), we turn our attention to the bilge—a veritable treasure trove of surprises. What starts as a routine clean quickly escalates into a full-blown adventure as we uncover blockages and mysteries hidden within.

Yet, with laughter and determination, we press on, armed with super-strong orange gloves and a sense of camaraderie that only comes from working together as a team.

As the day draws to a close, we reflect on the challenges we've faced and the progress we've made. It hasn't been easy, but with each obstacle overcome, we grow stronger and more capable.

So, fellow sailors, as we navigate the waters of boat renovation, let us remember the importance of perseverance and teamwork. Together, we can conquer any challenge that comes our way.

Until next time, fair winds and smooth sailing!

Tammy
