From Crawfish Boils to Auto Woes: A Week in the Life of Sailors

Ep 66 STRANDED in the Boat Yard - https://youtu.be/ibknkwqzNxE

Ahoy, fellow adventurers! Welcome back to our channel, where we're chronicling our journey as a family of six trading the solid ground for the open sea. Last week was a whirlwind of experiences, from mastering through-hole fittings to indulging in a good old-fashioned crawfish boil. Let's dive into the highlights.

First up, Todd shared a handy tip for cutting off the end of through-holes, making our boat maintenance a breeze. With new Dyneema rigging in hand, courtesy of Colligo Marine, we're one step closer to smooth sailing around the world. Special thanks to our patrons for their continued support—you're the wind beneath our sails!

Now, onto the main event: the crawfish boil. We were invited over to a neighboring campsite and couldn't resist the opportunity to partake in this Southern tradition. From seasoning the pot to wrestling with those feisty crustaceans, it was an experience to remember. And yes, we even tried sucking out the brains—don't knock it till you've tried it!

But as they say, when it rains, it pours—or in our case, when the truck's ignition switch snaps, it's time for some unexpected challenges. With Katie away at Disneyland, we found ourselves stranded in the boatyard, grappling with a broken truck and pouring rain. Cue the Dodge towing the Ford, and you've got yourself a classic sailor's tale of improvisation and resilience.

Despite the setbacks, we rallied with the help of friends and some makeshift repairs, tackling the steering column issue head-on. It wasn't the day we had planned, but hey, when life throws you curveballs, you learn to roll with the waves.

And speaking of waves, we also took on some boat repairs, patching up the rub rail and tidying up the wiring—a practice run for the challenges that lie ahead.

Join us next week as we tackle family chores, indulge in some donuts, and reflect on what's been taking us so long to set sail. If you're enjoying our adventures, don't forget to give us a thumbs up, subscribe to our channel, and hey, maybe even consider buying us an ice cream to keep our spirits high.

Until next time, fair winds and smooth sailing!
