We bought a sailboat!

After spending a couple of months scouring the internet and walking the docks in Texas we found the perfect boat for our family!

She is a 1981 Morgan 462 that was damaged in hurricane Harvey in the fall of 2017. Before that her second owner had stored her in a marina for many years and she was, to say the least a bit neglected.

Despite being in pretty bad shape, we fell in love with her the first time we walked through. She has two cabins and once had bunks in her passageway that we will restore. This was the most important thing we were looking for in a boat - enough beds, without putting down the couch for all of us to sleep. She also has two heads (bathrooms), a center cockpit, and a modified full keel - also characteristics we were looking for.

She’s going to need a TON of work!

We purchased her for $13,500 knowing that she’s a solid hull but all her systems need going through and probably replaced. Yes, even her engine. Basically we bought a hull with two masts.

Now it’s time to get down to work.

We’ll be documenting this refit journey on YouTube. You can check out our videos over there.

Here’s a look at our first walk through before we bought the boat.
